Changing Local Related Link into External Related Link to Newly-Created Document

To call up the Change Local Related Link Dialog, choose DITA > Insert External Related Link or click the Insert External Related Link button on the toolbar.

To change the local related link into external, click the External Link tab.

To call up the Create New DITA Document Dialog, click the Create New DITA Document button .

The Create New DITA Document Dialog will appear.

In the Create New DITA Document Dialog, do the following:

1. Specify parameters for the new document.

   1. From the Template drop-down list, select a template for the new document.

   2. In the Title field, type the title of the new document.

   3. The Id field gets filled in automatically when you are typing the title.

   4. In the File field, specify the name of the new document.

      Note:

      The new document will be saved in the directory of the current document. To specify another location for saving the new document, use the Browse button.

2. Click the Create button.
   
   
   
   

The new document will be created.

In the Change External Related Link Dialog, the newly-created document on the Files list and its top-level topic on the Targets list are automatically selected for insertion.

1. Select a format.
   From the Format drop-down list, select one of the following:

   • dita

   • html

   • pdf

   • ditamap

2. Select a type.

   From the Type drop-down list, select a type: e.g. concept, task, etc.

3. Select a scope.
   From the Scope drop-down list, select one of the following:

   • local

   • peer

   • external
