Inserting Reference to Newly-Created Document in DITA Map

To insert a reference to a newly-created document, do the following

  1. In DITA Map, place the cursor where to insert the topicref.
  2. Call up the Insert New DITA Document Reference Dialog.

    To call up the Insert New DITA Document Reference Dialog, choose DITA > Insert New DITA Document Reference or click the Insert New DITA Document Reference button on the toolbar.

  3. Specify parameters for the new document.

    In the Insert New DITA Document Reference Dialog, do the following:

    1. Specify the document template.

      From the Template drop-down list, select a template for the new document.

    2. Specify the title.

      In the Title field, type the title of the new document.

    3. Specify the ID.

      The Id field gets filled in automatically when you are typing the title.

    4. Specify the filename.

      In the File field, specify the name of the new document.

      Note:

      The new document will be saved in the directory of the current document. To specify another location for saving the new document, use the Browse button.

  4. Make the newly-created document open upon the topicref insertion.

    Check the Open after insert checkbox to open the newly-created document upon the topicref insertion.

  5. Insert the topicref.

    Click the Insert button to insert the topicref.



    The new document will be created and the topicref will be inserted.
