Inserting Symbols

In Serna, you can insert arbitrary Unicode symbols selecting them in the Insert Symbol Dialog. The variety of offered symbols does not depend on the current document type.

To insert an arbitrary Unicode symbol in the document, do the following:

  1. Call up the Insert Symbol Dialog.

    To call up the Insert Symbol Dialog, choose Entity > Insert Symbol .

    The Insert Symbol Dialog will appear.

  2. Change the range of shown symbols if needed.

    To change the range of shown symbols, do one of the following:

    • Type the character code point into Character Range text-box.

    • Select the character range from the Character Range drop-down list.

    • Click the arrow buttons next to the Character Range label to move to the next/previous adjacent portion of the code table.

  3. Change the font if needed.

    Select the font from the Font drop-down list.

    Note:

    If a symbol is not visible in the current font, you can change the font.

    Note:

    The symbol that is visible in the Insert Symbol Dialog may not be visible within the document because the font in the current position of the document may not contain this symbol. To make the symbol visible, correct the font in the stylesheet.

  4. Select a symbol.

    In the Insert Symbol Dialog, click the symbol.

  5. Insert the symbol.

    To insert the selected symbol, click the Insert button or double-click the symbol.
