Splitting Element

You can split an element one of these ways:

  1. Split an element in the Editing Window.
    1. Place the cursor in the element in the Editing Window.
    2. Split the element.
      Do one of the following:
      • Press Enter.

      • Choose Element > Split Element .

      • Click the Split Element button on the toolbar.

  2. Split the parent of an element in the Editing Window.
    1. Place the cursor in the element in the Editing Window.
    2. Split the parent of the element.

      To split the parent of the element, press Enter twice. Or press Enter multiple times in a row to split the parent of the parent of the element and so on.

      This is called advanced element split.

  3. Split an element in the ContentMap.
    1. Click the element in the ContentMap.
    2. Split the element.
      Do one of the following:
      • Choose Element > Split Element .

      • Click the Split Element button on the toolbar.

      • Use context menu.

    Note:

    The Enter key won't work to split elements in the ContentMap and consequently the advanced split won't work.

Example. Splitting elements.

Suppose we have inserted itemizedlist-> listitem-> para.



  1. Type " Orange" in the para. Press Enter.

    The para will be split (a new para will be inserted).



  2. Do not type anything in the new para. Press Enter immediately again.

    This will split the first listitem.



  3. Type " Lemon" in the para. Press Enter twice to split the listitem.

  4. Type " Apple" in the para. Press Enter twice to split the listitem.

  5. Type " Lime" in the para. Press Enter once to split the para.
